Have you ever upgraded a program only to find it no longer functions the way you intended? It happens all the time. Programmers enhance features or fix bugs only to have the feature cause strange behavior. In other cases, the user actually adapts to the bugs of the prior version. Oldapps.com closes this gap. They offer multiple old versions for dozens of popular programs. It is a must have for your bookmarks.

How to customize notifications:
It's easy to customize the notification area (a.k.a. System Tray) in Windows XP. If your notification area is not currently hiding icons, you can turn on customized notifications by clicking Start and Taskbar and Start Menu. Check mark Hide Inactive Icons and then click Customize...
Then, you can simply change the behavior of icons that you don't want staring back at you all day.
