    What's new in IE7:

  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Updates: IE 7 features improved CSS, Level 2 (CSS2) support

  • Portable Network Graphics (PNG): IE 7 adds support for Alpha Channel Transparency to PNG, so that Web designers can implement innovative and complex overlaid graphical designs.

  • XMLHTTP Native Support

  • Internationalized Domain Name (IDN): IE 7 includes complete support for RFC-3490 on Internationalizing Domain Names in Applications (IDNA) World Wide Web link in all browser functions.

  • Tabbed Browsing: IE 7 uses tabs as a way to organize and manage groups of Web pages. Users can set up, open, and preserve a tab, an individual page, or a combination of both. It has also combined your Favorites, History, and Web Feeds into one simple menu; users can dock this menu and use the new open in tabs control to open a folder of Favorites in Tabs.

  • HTML 4.0.1 Support

    Notepad's major advantage as an editor is its major presense on every version of Windows. You can easily insert the current time and date into Notepad. Just open Notepad and press F5 or use the menu: select Edit | Time/Date. There is also an automatic option that inserts the time and date automatically when you open the file:

  • Create a blank text file with .LOG as the first line of the file, followed by a carriage return.
  • Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after.
  • Type your notes and then save and close the file.

    Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.

    DoyleSoft Tip

    Paint is another wonderful tool built into Windows. You can access Paint by clicking Start | Run and typing mspaint. Paint has some very handy shortcuts. Press Ctrl + R to rotate an image. Press Ctrl + W to stretch or skew an image. Press Ctrl + E to see the properties of an image. Press Ctrl + Page Down to enlarge an image and press Ctrl + Page Up to return the image to normal size.
